The final stage of the Student League of the 4th CASE-IN International Engineering Championship has been held in Moscow with Transneft Energy acting as its title partner

Teams from 55 leading technical universities of Russia and three CIS countries presented their engineering cases solutions in the following six categories: geological exploration, mining, metallurgy, oil and gas, petrochemicals and electrical energy industry.

For the first time in the history of this championship, a special category dedicated to energy efficiency was established (Best Energy Saving Solution). A question on this topic was included in cases of each of the categories at the initiative of Transneft Energy within the Year of Energy Saving an Transneft.

Representatives of Transneft Energy were included in expert commissions of all the categories of the final stage of CASE-IN. The jury evaluated solutions proposed by the finalists according to the following criteria: depth of investigation of energy efficiency aspects, use of the best of the available technologies, weighted economic estimates and feasibility of the proposed solution, as well as innovative approach.

As a result, Transneft Energy presented a special award to Filosofsky Kamen (Philosopher's Stone) team (Petrochemicals category, National Research Institute Tomsk Polytechnic University) for a solution that ensures the best energy efficiency and energy saving.

Presenting the award, Sergey Yemelyanov, General Director of Transneft Energy, noted: "As engineers, you should offer new and unique technologies and be able to justify your proposals. At the same time, you should keep the energy efficiency of each proposed technology in mind. As a result, your company will be able to gain new competitive advantages and follow the global trend of energy saving."

Artem Korolev, Director of Nadezhnaya Smena (Reliable Successors) fund that holds the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship, highly appreciated cooperation with Transneft Energy for the purpose of systematic promotion of principles of energy saving among future engineers. "Today, energy saving and energy efficiency issues are relevant all over the world. Thanks to Transneft Energy, our title partner, we were able to show the importance of energy efficiency to a new generation of engineers from Russia and three CIS countries," he said.
